Willem Buiter is an
advisor to Goldman Sachs
International and a
member of the Academic
Advisory Board of ABP
Investments. He also
holds the Chair in
European Political
Economy in the European
Institute at the London
School of Economics and
Political Science. In
his distinguished career
thus far, Willem has
consulted national
governments and agencies
alike, apart from being
an academician. From
2005 to 2007, he also
chaired the Council of
Economic Advisors of the
Dutch Parliament. He has
been Chief Economist and
Special Advisor to the
President at the
European Bank for
Reconstruction and
Development (2000-05) as
well as a member of the
Monetary Policy
Committee of the Bank of
England. He has held
various academic
appointments at
Princeton University,
the University of
Bristol, the London
School of Economics and
Political Science, Yale
University and the
University of Cambridge.
Willem obtained his BA
in economics at
Cambridge University and
a Ph. D. at Yale
University. In 2000, he
was made a CBE for
'services to economics'. |
